Volunteers Help Make this Work Possible

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and we can't let it go by without giving a huge "THANK YOU"  to all of our amazing volunteers. We deeply value the partnership between employees and volunteers to provide guidance, support, and resources, so that we may increase resiliency within our community. Our volunteers contribute their invaluable time, interests, skills, and dedication to our work in the community to help advance our theory of change, assist our staff in delivering services, and uphold our guiding principles. Thank you to our Board Members, VITA volunteers, Promotoras, Citizenship Tutors, Community Event Volunteers, School Tutors, Ninos Activos Volunteers, and Senior Wellness Volunteers for all that you do!

2022 Community Impact Report

Our 2022 Community Impact Report is here!

We invite you to read about the collaborative work being done on a range of issues - to support upvalley youth, foster inclusion and civic engagement, prevent homelessness, secure caregivers for seniors, and more. These accomplishments are made possible through the hard work of our staff, the dedication of our board, and through supporters like you – who have stood with us, believing that collectively we can make a more significant and sustained impact towards a healthier community, together.

Senior Health Fair

Please help spread the word! We are hosting a free Senior Health Fair on Wednesday, May 10 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Pioneer Park in Calistoga. There will be over 20 health and wellness providers distributing resources for upvalley seniors ages 55 or older. You won't want to miss the Blue Zones Project cooking demonstration at 12:00 pm or the Calistoga Fire Department's CRP demo! We'll also have raffle prizes and giveaways. No registration is required - we hope to see you there! For more information, please call Elena Mendez, Senior Services Case Manager at (707) 341-3185.

Positive Parenting Program

April is also Child Abuse Prevention Month and our Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) providers are here to offer support. The Triple P system is the only parenting support model to have demonstrated population level reductions of child maltreatment and out-of-home placements.

Individualized Triple P sessions can help you create a safe interesting environment, use assertive discipline, have realistic expectations, learn new parenting skills to deal with difficult behavior, and take care of yourself as a parent.

Contact Lupe Maldonado at (707) 965-5010 ext. 403 or lmaldonado@upvalleyfamilycenters.org to learn more about the Triple P services our certified practitioners can offer.
