Celebrating the Heart of Our Work: Our Volunteers April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and we’re proud to recognize the incredible individuals who make our work possible. We want to give special recognition to our volunteer Board of Directors. These dedicated leaders generously give their time, expertise, and passion to guide our organization, ensuring we stay strong, mission-focused, and responsive to our community’s needs. Their commitment behind the scenes is invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for their service. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our volunteers who bring our programs to life. Over 120 volunteers have shared their time, talents, and compassion this past year to address unmet needs and improve the lives of others. Together, they embody one of our core principles: collaborative action. From our Board Members to VITA Volunteers, Promotoras, Immigration Program Volunteers, School Tutors, Holiday Assistance Program Volunteers, and Senior Wellness Volunteers — your impact is felt across every corner of our work. We are equally grateful for our partnerships with local service clubs and church groups whose volunteer-driven efforts strengthen our shared mission. Thank you for helping us foster wellbeing, connection, and resilience throughout our community. |
| | Immigrant Day of Action On April 14, our Immigration Team participated in the California Immigrant Policy Center’s Immigrant Day of Action — California’s largest annual immigrant rights mobilization. This two-day convening brought together community-based organizations, grassroots leaders, and policy advocates from across the state to strengthen strategies, deepen partnerships, and advance a shared policy agenda. This year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Future: 30 Years of Immigrant Justice!”, honored three decades of progress while underscoring the urgency of continued investment in immigrant communities. Spaces like this are critical to responding to emerging challenges and advancing meaningful policy change so that immigrant communities across California have the resources, representation, and collective power needed to thrive. |
