Wildfire Safety and Preparedness

California fires continue to be the deadliest and most destructive in recent history. As weather heats up across California and increases wildfire risk, our state is bracing for a long, hot summer thanks to the record drought. Stay prepared and ready to evacuate in the event of a wildfire or other disasters such as floods and earthquakes.

1. Evacuate early when fire or disaster is present
2. Discuss with family on where to meet if cannot return home
3. Prepare an emergency supply kit with essentials
4. Familiarize yourself with Red Flag Warning and how to get weather reports

Visit firefightersonyourside.org for more information on creating a 5-minute plan and being prepared for disaster.

Emergency rental assistance

Many renters have experienced financial struggles as a result of the pandemic. The California Housing is Key Program currently has emergency assistance funds available to help eligible tenants pay 100% of past-due rent and utilities. If you have experienced financial hardship and have past due rent or utility bills dating back to March of 2020, financial assistance could be available to you. UpValley Family Centers is here to support you with the application process. We can assist with reviewing eligibility, creating a user account, uploading documentation, and submitting your application. If you have questions about this, please contact us via email at efa@upvalleyfamilycenters.org or 707-965-5010.
