| School is Back in Full Swing Nearly 800 people and 47 partner agencies joined us at our rodeo-themed Back to School celebration last week! Thank you to Calistoga Joint Unified School District, our staff members and volunteers, partner organizations, and community members who joined us for a family-friendly, fun-filled evening! | Now that students are back in school, our school-based programs are back in full swing, thanks to our partnerships with St. Helena Unified School District and Calistoga Joint Unified School District. - Our wellness centers at Calistoga Elementary School and St. Helena High School are open, providing welcoming spaces where students can recharge and return to learning focused. Last school year, 58 percent of students at each school visited the center.
- Weekly youth mentoring groups are gathering and provide safe, supportive spaces where students can build positive relationships, strengthen communication skills, and learn healthy ways to navigate challenges in and out of the classroom.
- Our case managers are providing support for students and families through our Student Assistance Program, and parents are invited to participate in our Triple P – Positive Parenting Program to help parents navigate the transition from summer to school routines.

The event donated a portion of ticket sales and silent auction proceeds to UpValley Family Centers, totaling $1,650 to support our work with children, families, and older adults throughout the upvalley community. | | Volunteer Needed: Adult Citizenship Education Tutor - Calistoga We’re looking for a volunteer tutor to help adults prepare for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Naturalization Test. This volunteer opportunity is a meaningful way to make a real difference in Calistoga and to help individuals in your community reach their goal of becoming U.S. citizens. Training, a pre-approved curriculum, and ongoing staff support are provided. Qualifications: - Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Respectful of cultural differences, flexible, and able to commit to a consistent class schedule.
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience is required; experience working with adult learners is preferred.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus but not required.
Time Commitment: - Tutoring times determined based on your availability.
- Ideally, volunteers will teach one weekday evening session and one weekend session each week.

| | Plaza Comunitaria Starts September 8! In partnership with the Mexican Government, we offer Plaza Comunitaria classes in Spanish-language literacy and basic education. These classes allow adults who immigrated to the U.S. to work towards higher levels of education based on their last grade attended. Upon completion of each grade level, students receive recognition of completion from the Mexican Consulate. Classes are offered in Spanish with a certified teacher. Our Plaza Comunitaria program is accredited by the Mexican Secretary of Public Education and helps community members advance their education, support job attainment, and increase family prosperity. - Classes meet Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., September 8, 2026 - June 3, 2027.
- Attend classes in-person at our office at 1500 Cedar St., Calistoga, OR online using your laptop, tablet or cell phone.
- Classes are conducted in Spanish only.
- Free childcare is available for children over age 2 who are potty trained.
