Calistoga Back to School Family Celebration 2022

Save the date! Our 19th annual Back to School Family Celebration, co-hosted with the Calistoga Joint Unified School District, will take place on Friday, August 26, from 4:30 to 7:30 PM on Berry Field at Calistoga Elementary School. Join us for this joyful tradition that our community – both the young and the young at heart – looks forward to at the end of every summer. We are excited to welcome parents, children, teachers, and community members of all ages to connect and - most importantly - have fun! This free event includes a meal for every attendee, live music, a climbing wall, a service provider fair with 40+ partner organizations, games, and prizes!

This event is generously sponsored by Pacific Gas & Electric Company, Jones Family Vineyards - Elaine and Rick Jones, The Doctors Company, and the Damian Maldanado Memorial Foundation. There is still time to become a sponsor! If you are interested in learning more about our sponsorship opportunities, please email our Development Director, Cambria Kirby at ckirby@upvalleyfamilycenters.org.

Listos California

As part of an effort to build stronger, more resilient communities, we are pleased to announce that we are one of 93 recipients awarded a Listos California Community Resilience Grant. We will be working with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) to promote this people-centered, data-drive public education campaign and increase community resiliency in California’s most vulnerable communities that are disproportionally impacted by devastating wildfires, earthquakes and other disasters.

On August 4th, UVFC’s staff and promotoras are partnering with the Latino Community Foundation, Corazón Healdsburg, and Redwood Credit Union to provide an Emergency Preparedness and Finance Workshop to our Spanish-speaking community members from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Calistoga Community Center. Workshop participants may qualify to receive an emergency backpack, gift card, and coverage for 1 year of renters insurance (eligibility requirements apply). Spanish-speaking community members may register by contacting Omaira Baptista at (707) 965-5010 or obaptista@upvalleyfamilycenters.org.

Stay prepared

California wildires fires continue to be record breaking in destruction. As weather heats up across California and increases wildfire risk, our state is bracing for a long, hot summer thanks to the record drought. Stay prepared and ready to evacuate in the event of a wildfire or other disasters such as floods and earthquakes.

  1. Evacuate early when fire or disaster is present
  2. Discuss with family on where to meet if cannot return home
  3. Prepare an emergency supply kit with essentials
  4. Familiarize yourself with Red Flag Warning and how to get weather reports

Visit firefightersonyourside.org for more information on creating a 5-minute plan and being prepared for disaster.
