Closing the Digital Divide Earlier this month, we partnered with Parents CAN, AT&T, Human-I-T, and Napa County to host a digital literacy fair and distribute 150 laptops to community members. Eligible upvalley families and older adults received a free laptop with 1 year of free bilingual tech support and a 1 year hardware warranty. The event featured free food, a DJ, face painting, snowcones, and a resource fair to help everyone get connected. Thank you to Human-I-T for believing access to technology is a right, not a privilege, and to AT&T for being committed to helping close the digital divide together by providing resources to help families be successful in the digital world. “Having access to a computer and internet is essential to local families,” said Jenny Ocón, executive director of the UpValley Family Centers. “More and more it’s a necessity to be able to get access to information, services and resources that are online.” Read the full article in the St. Helena Star. |
